Description

Albeniz et al reported a score for predicting the risk of delayed bleeding after endoscopic resection of a large colorectal lesion. The authors are from multiple institutions in Spain participating in the Endoscopic Mucosal Resection Endoscopic Spanish Society Group.

Patient selection: endoscopic resection of a large colorectal lesion (>= 2 cm in diameter)

Outcome: bleeding from discharge to 15 days after the procedure

Parameters:

(1) age of the patient in years

(2) ASA status

(3) diameter of lesion in mm

(4) aspirin use

(5) complete closure of site

(6) location proximal to transverse colon (cecum and right colon)

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 10

• The higher the score the greater the risk of delayed bleeding.
