Safety Monitoring System for Fall Prevention

The safety monitor:

(1) is competent in recognizing fall hazards

(2) is clearly designated by an orange or other distinctive hard hat

(3) must be close enough to communicate with workers by voice

(4) must be on the same working surface as the workers and be within sight

(5) must not have other responsibilities interfering with monitoring duties

Duties:

(1) warn a worker who is approaching an open edge in an unsafe manner by voice

(2) warn erectors if they are in a dangerous area

(3) warn workers who are acting as if unaware of a fall hazard

(4) warn workers who are acting in an unsafe manner
