Laging et al developed a comorbidity score for evaluating a patient with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) prior to renal transplantation. The authors are from Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam.

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 15

• The higher the score the greater the risk for mortality.

• The risk for mortality also increases with stage, starting after 40 years of age.
