Description

The irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) can be diagnosed using the Rome IV criteria.


Diagnostic features of the irritable bowel syndrome - all of the following:

(1) recurrent abdominal pain

(2) >= 1 time per week for the past 3 months

(3) symptoms onset >= 6 months before diagnosis

(4) >= 2 of the following:

(4a) pain is related to defecation

(4b) change in frequency of defecation

(4c) change in the appearance of the stool
