Rome IV recognized a functional gallbladder disorder.
Features of a functional gallbladder disorder:
(1) presence of biliary pain
(2) absence of gallstones or other structural pathology
Additional findings may include:
(1) low ejection fraction on gallbladder scintigraphy
(2) normal laboratory tests (liver enzymes, conjugated bilirubin, amylase, lipase)
where:
• Cholesterolosis can result in acalculous cholecystitis.
