Description

Xiong et al developed a score for predicting mortality in a patient with the severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS). There is a spectrum of disease severity including multi-organ failure with high mortality. The authors are from Huazhong University and Union Hospital in Wuhan, China.

Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is a tick-borne (Haemaphysalis longicornis) viral infection caused by a Phlebovirus of the Bunyavirus family.

Outcome: in-hospital mortality

Parameters:

(1) neurologic symptoms level

(2) respiratory symptoms level

(3) viral load in copies/mL

(4) percent monocytes from 0 to 100
