Description

Andrews et al reported a risk score for evaluating a patient undergoing an percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) after an ST-segment elevation acute myocardial infarction. This can help to identify a patient at increased risk for short-term mortality. The authors are from the University of Sheffield, Northern General Hospital and Manchester Royal Infirmary.

Patient selection: ST-segment elevation acute myocardial infarction

Outcome: 30-day mortality

Parameters:

(1) age in years

(2) call-to-balloon (CTB) time in hours (starts when patient calls for help)

(3) cardiogenic shock

(4) congestive heart failure
