Shan et al reported a model for predicting cardiovascular disease risk for a Chinese male. The authors are from Peking University, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University, South China University of Technology, and University of Chinese Academy of Sciences.

• The model appears to be very sensitive to the coefficient for the combined factor. There are 2 values given in the text (0.002 and 0.0015). Trial and error showed better performance. In addition, the example gives an ABI of 3.39 which far exceeds the patients' values.
