Description

Wang et al reported a risk model for predicting mortality in a patient with severe fever and thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS). This can help to identify a patient who may require more aggressive management. The authors are from Infectious Disease Hospital of Yantai China.

Patient selection: severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) in China

Parameters:

(1) serum AST in U/L

(2) age in years

(3) serum creatinine in µmol/L

M =

= (0.002 * (AST)) + (0.121 * (age)) + (0.013 * (serum creatinine))

Interpretation:

• A score > 10 is associated with a high-risk of mortality.

Performance:

• The area under the ROC curve is 0.89.
