Description

The Risk Model for Delirium (RD score) can help to identify a patient at risk for delirium. It was developed at Reinier de Graaf Hospital in Delft, The Netherlands.


Parameters:

(1) history of delirium during previous hospital admission

(2) dementia

(3) clock drawing (displaying 10 minutes past 11)

(4) age in years

(5) hearing

(6) vision

(7) activities of daily living at home (meals/housework, physical care)

(8) use of opiates (heroin, methadone, morphine)

(9) number of alcoholic drinks per day

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 21

• A score >= 5 is associated with delirium.
