Zhou followed women treated for urethral diverticula and identified risk factors for recurrent disease. The authors are from Sichuan University in Cheng Du, China.
Patient selection: woman with history of urethral diverticula with treatment
Risk factors at the time of initial therapy associated with a recurrent urethral diverticulum:
(1) 2 or more diverticula
(2) proximal diverticulum
(3) previous urethral surgery
One hypothesis for the risk associated with multiple diverticula was that a very small diverticulum might have been overlooked initially and subsequently enlarged.
