Patient selection: partial hepatectomy
Risk factors for bile leakage from multivariate analysis:
(1) large cut surface area (OR 2.29)
(2) negative history for hepatitis (OR(5.15)
Procedures with small cut surface area:
(1) simple wedge
(2) left lateral sectionectomy
(3) left hemihepatectomy
Procedures with large cut surface area:
(1) right hemihepatectomy
(2) left hemihepatectomy and caudate lobectomy
(3) segmentectomy 5
(4) bisegmentectomy 5 and 6
(5) bisegmentectomy 7 and 8
(5) left median sectionectomy
(6) right posterior sectionectomy
(7) central bisectionectomy
(8) right anterior sectionectomy
(9) bisegmentectomy 4 and 8
