Description

Tang et al identified risk factors for rebleeding from cerebral aneurysm, These can help to identify a patient who may benefit from more aggressive management. The authors are from Fudan University and Shanghai Jing-an District Central Hospital in Shanghai.

Patient selection: aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage

Risk factors for a rebleed from the aneurysm with odds ratio > 2:

(1) within 6 hours of the initial hemorrhage (odds ratio 3.2)

(2) Hunt & Hess Grade III or IV (odds ratio 3.4)

(3) aneurysm in the posterior circulation (odds ratio 2.2)

Risk factors for a rebleed from the aneurysm with odds ratio < 2:

(1) high systolic blood pressure (odds ratio 1.9)

(2) presence of intracerebral or intraventricular hematoma (odds ratio 1.7)
