Rass et al identified factors associated with impaired quality of life at 3 months after COVID-19. These can help to identify a patient who may benefit from additional support. The authors are from the Medical University of Innsbruck in Austria.


Patient selection: quality of life status 3 months post COVID-19

 

Factors associated with impaired quality of life:

(1) younger age (aOR 0.94 per year)

(2) longer hospital stay (aOR 1.07 per day)

(3) impaired sleep (aOR 5.5)

(4) anxiety (aOR 15.7)

(5) depression (aOR 10)

(6) impaired concentration (aOR 2.7)

 

Additional factors:

(1) reduced taste (hypogeusia)

(2) fatigue

(3) numbness

(4) greater physical symptom burden

(5) impaired lung function

(6) PTSD, especially for those admitted to the ICU
