Morabito et al developed a simple score for predicting progression-free survival for a patient with Binet Stage A Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL). This can help to identify a patient who may or may not benefit from more aggressive management. The authors are from multiple institutions in Italy.
Patient selection: CLL, Binet Stage A
Parameters:
(1) CD38 in percent
(2) cells with IGHV mutations in percent
(3) ZAP70 in percent on flow cytometry

Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 3
• The higher the score the worse the progression-free survival (PFS).
