McDonough et al identified risk factors for depression and anxiety in a patient with psoriasis. These can help to identify a patient who should be screened for these problems. The authors are from Toronto Western Hospital and the University of Toronto.


 

Patient selection: psoriasis

 

Risk factors for anxiety and depression:

(1) psoriatic arthritis

(2) female gender

(3) unemployment

(4) higher actively inflamed joint count (with psoriatic arthritis)

(5) disability

(6) pain

(7) fatigue

 

The more risk factors present the greater the risk for depression and anxiety.
