A male with cancer may experience erectile dysfunction.
Patient selection: male with cancer
Risk factors for erectile dysfunction:
(1) depression and/or anxiety
(2) loss of intimacy with partner and/or lack of sexual desire
(3) pre-existing erectile dysfunction
(4) comorbid conditions (diabetes, hypertension, smoking, atherosclerosis)
(5) hormonal therapy
(6) chemotherapy
(7) surgery on the genitourinary tract or pelvis (prostate, penis, etc)
(8) radiation to the pelvis
To counter the erectile dysfunction the individual factors affecting the patient need to be identified and addressed.
