Description

Kyriakou et al identified a number of factors impacting overall survival for a patient with Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia (WM) who underwent autologous stem cell transplantation. These can help to identify those patients who may require more aggressive management. The authors are from the Lymphoma Working Party of the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation.

Patient selection: WM undergoing autologous stem cell transplant

Parameters:

• The odds ratios ranged from 1.9 to 3.1.

Interpretation:

• minimum number of risk factors: 0

• maximum number of risk factors: 4

• Overall survival declines as the number of risk factors increases.
