Description

Kobayashi et al evaluated patients following balloon angioplasty for femoropopliteal disease. The presence of certain risk factors can help to identify a patient at risk for arterial restenosis within 2 years. The authors are from Saisikai Yokohama City Eastern Hospital in Japan.

Patient selection: balloon angioplasty for superficial femoropopliteal atherosclerotic disease

Parameters:

(1) type of angiographic dissection after the balloon angioplasty

(2) length of the atherosclerotic lesion in millimeters

Patients at risk for restenosis:

(1) angiography Group C

(2) angiography Group B AND length of lesion > 100 mm
