Husted et al identified a number of factors associated with fatigue in patients with psoriatic arthritis. This can help to identify a patient who may benefit from a targeted intervention. The authors are from the University of Waterloo, University Health Network Toronto and Western Hospital in Toronto, Canada.
Patient selection: psoriatic arthritis
Outcome: clinically significant fatigue
Risk factors for fatigue:
(1) female gender
(2) pain
(3) physical functional disability
(4) psychological distress
(5) medication status (“ever treated with methotrexate”)
(6) number of fibromyalgia tender points
where:
• Several of these measures correlate with greaster disease activity.
