He et al reported risk factors for failure of sonographically-guided saline hydrostatic intususception reduction in pediatric patients. The authors are from Anhui Medical University.


Patient selection: pediatric intussusception with sonographically-guided saline hydrostatic reduction

 

Risk factors for failure to reduce the intussusception:

(1) location in descending colon or rectum (left-sided; OR 174.7)

(2) presence of free peritoneal fluid (OR 36.1)

(3) trapped fluid in the intussusception (OR (13.2)

(4) bloody stool (OR 9.3)
