Halim et al reported risk factors for uveitis following cataract surgery. These factors can help to identify a patient who may benefit from more aggressive management. The authors are from Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry and Oxford University in England.

(2) complicated surgery (eyes with small pupils OR iris hooks OR Malyugin ring)

where:
• Posterior capsule rupture is associated with prolonged surgery, increased likelihood of iris manipulation and the need for vitrectomy.
The risk goes up with the number of risk factors present.
