Warfarin-related nephropathy (anticoagulation-related nephropathy) may be associated with a number of risk factors.
Risk factors for anticoagulation-related nephropathy:
(1) chronic kidney disease
(2) older age
(3) diabetes mellitus
(4) hypertension
(5) hypoalbuminemia
(6) heart failure
Factors that may contribute to a bleeding disorder:
(1) elevated dose of the anticoagulant
(2) gene polymorphism associated with impaired drug metabolism
(3) concurrent coagulopathy
(4) aspirin
