A number of factors may increase the risk of injury for a person who is hang gliding.


 

Risk factors for injury while hang gliding:

(1) inexperience

(2) lack of preflight instruction

(3) air turbulence

(4) intoxication

(5) power line, trees or other object in the flight path

(6) high wind speed

(7) stalling

(8) structural failure of the kite

(9) entanglement with strut wire

(10) failure to wear a helmet
