Description

Infectious aortitis may be linked to a number of risk factors.


Risk factors for infectious aortitis:

(1) atherosclerotic ulcer

(2) trauma

(3) cystic degeneration of the tunica media

(4) diabetes mellitus

(5) vascular malformations

(6) invasive catheterization

(7) immunocompromised status (including chronic corticosteroid therapy)

(8) graft

(9) bacteremia or fungemia

(10) renal failure

 

A patient will often have multiple risk factors.
