Description

A building may collapse for a number of reasons.


 

Risk factors for a building collapse:

(1) poor design

(2) poor materials

(3) poor construction (for example, not following the design)

(4) poor foundation

(5) failure to adequately inspect

(6) excessive loading

(7) deterioration of structural components (from rust, water, fire, termites, rot, etc)

(8) earthquake

(9) impact from a tsunami, mudflow or other anything large

(10) bomb or intentional damage
