Patient selection: trauma with fracture and/or dislocation
Risk factors:
(1) physeal fracture in pediatric patients
(2) complex fractures with multiple bone fragments
(3) surgical approach
(4) poor fracture reduction
(5) arterial damage and collateral flow
Common types may be referred to by specific names:
(1) Kienbock: lunate
(2) Kummel: vertebral body
