Most bee or wasp stings are minor. However, some can be life-threatening.
Risk factors for a significant adverse outcome following a bee or wasp sting:
(1) older age
(2) coronary artery disease or other comorbid condition(s)
(3) stings in the head and neck
(4) multiple stings
(5) allergy to venom
(6) failure to monitor for delayed onset of systemic reaction
