Description

Sexual assault of males often goes unreported.


Male at risk:

(1) age <= 18 years (but can occur at any age)

(2) developmentally, physically or intellectually disabled

(3) homosexual, bisexual, transgender or transvestite

(4) prisoner

(5) alcohol or drug intoxication, including drug-facilitated

(6) mental illness

(7) homeless

(8) previous sexual victimization

(9) position of dependency

(10) someone to be abused or humiliated (hazing)

 

The perpetrator is often known to the victim.

Multiple assailants may be involved.

 

Type of assault include:

(1) genital groping

(2) sodomy

(3) oral penetration

(4) insertion of a foreign object

(5) digital penetration
