A bully or a bullying group tend to target certain people for their attention.


A bully wants:

(1) to derive some sort of perverse pleasure by his or her behavior

(2) to express anger triggered by the target

(3) to avoid being physically hurt by someone more powerful

(4) to avoid feeling bad or guilty about what he or she is doing


People who may be targeted for bullying:

(1) minority racial group

(2) minority religion

(3) physically shorter

(4) physically weaker or disabled

(5) emotional or behavioral problems (autism, mental retardation, etc)

(6) socially awkward or otherwise isolated

(7) economically disadvantaged or advantaged

(8) intellectually challenged or gifted

(9) sexual orientation

(10) unprotected by others, including society

(11) different for any other reason
