Joseph et al used the revised assessment of bleeding and transfusion (RABT) score to identify a trauma patient who may require massive transfusion. The authors are from the University of Arizona.
Patient selection: trauma
Parameters:
(1) FAST test
(2) shock index (SI)
(3) pelvic fracture
(4) penetrating mechanism of injury (MOI)

Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 4
• A score >= 2 was associated with the need for massive transfusion.
Performance:
• The area under the ROC curve is 0.83.
• At a score >= 2 the score has a sensitivity of 84% and specificity of 77%.
