Description

Landkroon et al reported a questionnaire sent to authors by journal editors to evaluate the quality of an article review that the authors received. This can provide editors with insights from the submitter perspective. The authors are from the Dutch Journal of Medicine and Leiden University Medical Center in the Netherlands.


 

Questions about the review:

(1) understandable

(2) fair and objective

(3) insight and expertise on the part of the reviewer

(4) evaluated the purpose of the research

(5) evaluated the importance of subject

(6) evaluated the originality

(7) evaluated the study design

(8) evaluated the scientific arguments

(9) suggestions for improvement

(10) overall conclusion and/or recommendations

(11) structure of criticism

(12) comments have resulted in an improved paper

 

Responses for the original questionnaire are "Yes" or "No". For the implementation an expanded scale will be used.

 

In addition the authors gave a Likert-scale global assessment of the review:
