Description

The Restless Genital Syndrome is an uncommon disorder that can be easily misdiagnosed.


Pathogenesis: small fiber sensory neuropathy in the genital end branches of the pudendal nerve

 

Clinical features:

(1) unpleasant and unwanted genital sensations

(2) one or both of the following

(2a) restless leg syndrome

(2b) overactive bladder syndrome

(3) hyperesthesia of the genital region

 

Symptoms may be triggered by manual examination over the dorsal nerve of the penis.

 

Differential diagnosis

(1) persistent genital arousal disorder (PGAD)
