The ratio of uromodulin to osteopontin in the urine of a decreased kidney donor may be predictive of outcomes after a renal transplant. The authors are from multiple institutions in the United States.
Patient selection: decreased donor of kidney transplant
Specimen: deceased donor urine
Parameters:
(1) uromodulin in ng/mL
(2) osteopontin in ng/mL
ratio of uromodulin to osteopontin =
= (uromodulin) / (osteopontin)
Interpretation:
• A ratio <= 3 was associated with better outcomes including a lower rate of graft failure and higher 6-month eGFR
