Description

Brix et al reported a simple score for predicting renal risk in a patient with ANCA-associated glomerulonephritis. The authors are from multiple institutions in Germany and Switzerland.

Patient selection: ANCA-associated glomerulonephritis

Outcome: end-stage renal disease (ESRD) within 3 years

Parameters:

(1) percent normal glomeruli

(2) percent tubular atrophy and interstitial fibrosis

(3) GFR at the time of diagnosis in mL per min per 1.73 square meter

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 11

• The higher the score the greater the risk for ESRD.
