Description

Hoang et al reported a glaucoma stratification tool used at Sydney Eye Hospital and referred to GLAUC-STRAT 1. This includes reference to red flags and "plus" conditions.


Patient selection: glaucoma

 

Red flags:

(1) rapid progression (change in visual fields > 2 decibels per year)

(2) only 1 eye

(3) unexplained loss of visual acuity

(4) hypotony

(5) acute hypersensitivity reaction

(6) intraocular pressure > 40 mm Hg

 

Plus factors:

(1) severe ocular surface disorder (Sjogren's, cicatricial scarring, etc)

(2) ocular comorbidities (diabetic retinopathy, uveitis, keratoconus, etc)

(3) intraocular pressure 36 to 40 mm Hg

(4) significant psychosocial problems

(5) systemic comorbidities (immunosuppression, pituitary tumor, Marfan syndrome, other)
