A husband experiencing domestic abuse may not report its occurrence for a number of reasons.

Reasons why a husband may not report being domestically abused:
(1) afraid no one will believe or listen to him
(2) afraid of being ridiculed (stigma)
(3) need to maintain a social image
(4) cultural or social taboos
(5) fear of losing children or family
(6) need to pay alimony
(7) feels responsible for inciting the abuse (infidelity, etc)
(8) substance abuse involved and unwilling to notify policy
(9) fear of retaliation by wife or the wife's family
(10) dependent on wife
(11) rationalization of wife's behavior (denial)
(12) learned behavior to keep family secrets
