Poh et al reported the Real-World Risk Score for hepatocellular carcinoma (RWS-HCC) for identifying a patient with chronic hepatitis B virus who is at risk for hepatocellular carcinoma. The authors are from Singapore General Hospital, Academia Sinica (Taipei), National Yang-Ming University, The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and National Taiwan University.

Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 8
• A score < 4.5 is associated with a very low rate of hepatocellular carcinoma.
• A score >= 4.5 was associated with a continuous increase in risk for hepatocellular carcinma, with a 20% probability at 6 years.
Performance:
• The area under the ROC cure was 0.915.
