Description

Tachino et al reported the Quick Risk Assessment Profile (qRAP) as a rapid screen for risk of venous thromboembolism after trauma. The authors are from Osaka University and the Center Hospital of the National Center for Global Health and Medicine in Japan.

The Risk Assessment Profile (RAP) of Greenfield et al has 17 parameters, 6 of which are used in the qRAP.

Patient selection: trauma

Parameters:

(1) central femoral line

(2) transfusions within 24 hours

(3) Glasgow coma scale (GCS)

(4) complex lower extremity fracture

(5) pelvic fracture

(6) spinal cord injury

Interpretation:

minimum score: 0

maximum score: 6

A score >= 1 is positive while a score =0 is negative.

Performance:

The sensitivity is 100% and specificity 38%.

The area under the ROC curve is 0.8.
