Clinical features:
(1) congenital elongation of the aorta with kinking
(2) absence of luminal narrowing
(3) variable hypertension
(4) variable blood pressure discrepancy
(5) absence of collateral circulation
(6) absence of left ventricular hypertrophy and dilation of the proximal arota
Location:
(1) thoracic aorta in the region of the ligamentum arteriosum
(2) abdominal aorta (very rare)
The diagnosis can be made using imaging studies (CT, MRI, digital subtraction angiography).
Differential diagnosis:
(1) coarctation of the aorta
(2) mediastinal neoplasm
(3) thrombosis of the aorta (Joseph et al)
(4) aortic aneurysm
