Description

Datta and Lahiri listed a protocol for evaluating a patient prior to lung resection surgery. This can help to identify patients who may benefit from alternative treatment options. The authors are from St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut.


 

Testing that may be required:

(1) routine pulmonary function tests (PFT), including FEV1 and DLCO

(2) quantitative lung scan with estimate of post-operative pulmonary function

(3) exercise testing to measure VO2max
