Description

Some patients with myelodysplastic syndrome have an increased level of hemoglobin F in the blood.


Some patients have elevated hemoglobin F levels before therapy, while decitabine can induced hemoglobin F in others.

 

Factors associated with better prognosis:

(1) hemoglobin F concentration > 5%

(2) hemoglobin F prior to treatment.

(3) lower risk prognostic scoring system
