Description

Ambros and Kurman published 2 scores in 1992 for women with Stage I endometrioid adenocarcinoma of the uterine corpus. Each score identified 4 risk groups with different long-term survivals.

Patient selection: Scores apply only to women with Stage I endometrioid adenocarcinoma.

Score 1

Parameters:

(1) extent of myometrial invasion

(2) presence of vascular invasion-associated changes including vascular invasion by tumor and/or the presence of myometrial perivascular lymphocytic infiltrates. Features of vascular invasion by tumor include (a) unequivocal endothelial-lining of space, (b) tumor nests conforming to the shape of the vessel, and (c) adjacent cross sections of an obvious vessel near and in alignment with the tumor nest in question.
