Description

Nordlinger et al developed a prognostic score for predicting survival of patients after resection of metatastic lesions to the liver from a colorectal adenocarcinoma. This can help advise patients prior to surgery and identify patients most likely to benefit from the surgery. The authors are from Hopital Saint Antoine in Paris and Hopital de Hautepierre in Strasbourg.

Parameters:

(1) age of the patient

(2) size of largest metastasis

(3) extension into the serosa of the primary carcinoma

(4) lymphatic spread of the primary carcinoma

(5) disease free interval

(6) number of liver nodules

(7) resection margins

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 7

• The higher the score, the worse the prognosis.
