Description

Khirallah et al reported a prognostic score for pediatric patients undergoing splenectomy for a benign hematological disorder. This can help to identify a patient who may require more aggressive management. The authors are from Tanta University in Egypt.

Patient selection: age 4-15 years with benign hematological disorder

Parameters:

(1) pathology

(2) splenic long axis in cm

(3) pedicle control

(4) blood loss in mL
