The Prognostic Score 1 is an individual risk ratio for patients with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) developed by the German CML Study Group.
Parameters:
(1) age in years
(2) percent blasts in peripheral blood
(3) percent erythroblasts
(4) organomegaly related symptoms
(5) extramedullary manifestations
(6) Karnofsky index
ln (score 1) =
= (0.013 * ((age in years) - 47.3)) + (0.0424 * ((percent blasts in peripheral blood) - 3.2)) + (0.0906 * ((percent erythroblasts) - 1.0)) + (0.4872 * ((organomegaly related symptoms) - 0.35)) + (0.7959 * ((extramedullary manifestations) - 0.064)) - (0.0121 * ((Karnofksy index) - 90.0))
where:
• percent blasts: from 0 to 100
• percent erythroblasts: from 0 to 100. This is not defined and will be assumed to represent the percent of erythroid precursors circulating in the peripheral blood.
• organomegaly-related symptoms: yes (1) or no (0)
• extramedullary manifestations: yes (1) or no (0); however, these are not specified.
• Karnofsky index in percent (from 0 to 100)
score 1 =
= EXP(equation above)
Interpretation:
• 3 risk groups are identified: low, intermediate and high
Score 1 |

0.8 - 1.2 |
intermediate |
54 months |
> 1.2 |
high |
