Description

Hahn et al reported a prognostic model for a patient with Hodgkin's disease who is undergoing bone marrow transplantation (BMT). This can identify a patient who may benefit from more aggressive management. The authors are from Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo.

Patient selection: relapsed and refractory Hodgkin's disease, treated with autologous or allogeneic BMT

Outcome: event-free survival (EFS)

Parameters:

(1) number of prior regimens

(2) chemo-sensitivity of the Hodgkin's diseaes

(3) Karnofsky Performance Status at time of BMT (KPS, from 10 to 100)

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score 3

• The higher the score the worse the event-free survival.
