Description

Cahilla et al developed a prognostic index (PI) for patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the penis. This can help predict the presence of nodal metastases in inguinal lymph node dissections. The authors are from Instituto de Patologia e Investigacion in Asuncion/Paraguay, and New York University School of Medicine.

Parameters:

(1) histologic grade

(2) anatomic location - glans vs foreskin

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 1

• maximum score: 6

• The higher the score the greater the risk for lymph node metastases.
