Factors associated with worse prognosis:
(1) unmutated IGHV status
(2) advanced Binet clinical stage (Stage C)
(3) del(17p13) or del(11q23)
(4) high expression of ZAP-70 (>= 20%)
(5) high expression of CD38 (>= 30%)
where:
• 17p53 is associated with p53
• 11q23 is associated with ATM
number of prognostic factors =
= SUM(prognostic factors present)
Interpretation:
• minimum number: 0
• maximum number: 5
• The prognosis is worse with the number of factors present.
