Kilpatrick et al identified prognostic factors for a patient with myxoid and/or round cell liposarcoma. The authors are from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Parameters identified on multivariate analysis:
(1) age in years
(2) percent round cell component
(3) tumor necrosis

= SUM(points for all 3 factors)
Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 3
• The higher the score the worse the prognosis.
• The prognosis is particularly poor if tumor necrosis is present (10 year survival 0%).
A tumor diameter > 10 cm was associated with a worse prognosis but the p value was 0.08 in multivariate analysis.
